Surface Capacitive Sensor Technology
Noted for fast response times, Surface Capacitive sensor technology employs a glass substrate with transparent metal oxide coating. Electricity is applied to all four corners of the sensor, and a pattern of electrodes around the periphery of the touch screen distribute the voltage to form a uniform electric field across the conductive surface.
The relative magnitude of current diminished as it moves further from the corners. A finger touch draws a minute amount of current from the surface and is measured by the controller. The sensor's controller calculates the X-Y coordinate of the touch as a ratio of the magnitude of electricity at all four corners.
